Note from Cindy's Desk

Today my family blew me away! They would love to live in Connecticut! I had no idea. I would too! But I didn't realize we all feel this way. So, maybe I really am at last where I will be settling in professionally and building my practice.

I'm super excited to announce that I am working at Body Essentials in Danbury, Connecticut. I just received an amazing facial treatment from Gina, the owner. We spent the day working on people and eating hummus from Trader Joe's (another reason I've died and gone to heaven working there--Trader Joe's is just up the road.) and devising outreach for our services.

Last night I ordered business cards and I had to change my url. I promise this will be the last change for a while!! It's http://www.cindymassage.blogspot.com/ (You must see the sense in this, the old url is so long it won't fit on a business card!) So head over there for the announcement and a draft of my bio.

I need to get out press releases and design a brochure of my services and training.

A really neat thing about Body Essentials is that it is Holistic and Alternative Healing-based. Not just beauty on the outside but the whole person is honored there!!

She has the ultimate in infrared light technology for heavy metal detox, pain relief or Weight Loss capital W. Read my lips: cellulite bye bye.

Most importantly, I just love how the energy moves and people step in to say hi, book an appointment or have a massage. http://www.bodyessentials.net/ This is a testament to what Gina has built over a ten year period the doors have been open.

Now Licensed in Connecticut!

Cindy "Sea" Cummins is now licensed in Connecticut state to practice massage therapy! Lic no. 005587

Yep, I got my license two days ago by phone and began interviewing at day spas in the Danbury area. So far I am not signing anything, but the drive isn't too bad. (About 40 minutes.) And people have been really nice.

I got an offer to go in partnership on a day spa but right now, I really just want to show up and work for someone else until I get to know the area better and where I want to be long term.

I will be with a mobile spa company at a large boat show in Norwalk, Connecticut, September 18 through 21.

Within six months I should be set up with a local office here in New York so that might mean I don't go to Connecticut at all anymore. So, we will have to see. It's what is lucrative and what works keeping in mind what a home-body I am ... I'd like to stay put and have clients come to me.

But I also like the high-end spa feeling and love trading services. So, marble and hot tubs and light facials here I come!

Day 8 Smoothie Program

I just made the most delicious green soup. It happened spontaneously.

Cindy's Tangy Soup

8oz cold filtered water
3 big pinches raw beet saurkraut (uncooked unsalted)
2 handfuls mesclun salad mix
1 large piece wakame torn (soaked is best but I was huuungry)
Dash of balsamic vinegar
1 rounded tsp organic turmeric powder
1/4 clove fresh garlic (or to taste)
1 grind sea salt
pinch cayenne pepper

Blend until smooth and add:

2 heaping Tblspn organic hummus
1-2 Tblspn olive oil (Flax oil may be substituted.)

Blend and taste. Savor! It's highly enzymatic and full of protein. I need the turmeric for drying out dampness in my spleen and gall bladder.

BTW, check out Victoria Boutenko's book, "Green For Life" or "12 Steps to Raw Foods" for more on the power of green smoothies. I also enjoy Boutenko's mentor Ann Wigmore's books.

Writing One's Way to _Right_ Size

You never get hit with a Snack Attack. Nooo! You?

I've kept my high weight at 126 with most of the time weighing 125. I feel and look almost perfect at this weight with the way I am exercising regularly and doing some free weights and core floor exercises.

For a while I was daily looking at Julia Cameron's book "The Writing Diet" and I'm about to pull it back out. It's really good. And I'm still keeping a food journal. iVillage sent me this link today that with data support that to lose twice as much weight keep a food journal.

Cameron's book is really good. I particularly like her 4-question tool in Chapter 4. If you're hungry you ask yourself 4 questions: Am I hungry? (rather than dehydrated bored etc) *grins* 2) Is this what I *want* to eat? 3) Is this what I want to eat *now*? (emphasis mine) And then--ahhhh, the "key to freedom" 4) Is there something I could eat instead?

Woot.

Vitality Drink (aka Liver Flush)

Wanna do wonders, I mean, wonders for your--uh Self?

Try this liver flush, er, I mean Vitality Drink. Most modern humanoids these days have gravel in their gall bladders and a bit of a fatty liver. Read: sluggishness. This can lead to symptoms such as vague abdominal pain, inability to lose weight, tiredness, mood swings, etc. There are (pop pop popping as we speak) so many gall bladder surgeries (pop pop like popcorn) the surgeons just pop 'em out and say there's no side effects. Hmm.

Ya think?

Well, *smiles* there might be another solution. It's called giving the ole' digestive system a break. Not intended as medical advice. Please consult with your healthcare provider.

I was trained as Polarity Therapist at the once Murrieta Hot Springs Polarity Resort in California. As part of our experiential program, we all did the purifying diet and then an extended liver flush protocol. This is not the entire protocol, just a way to gradually detox the system. The vegetarian recipe book can be purchased here for a song. So worth it. This is the summer season, so light eating like this can be tolerated usually by even the type O's of you.

Wait several hours before your morning coffee or breakfast. Avoid dairy and lean towards fresh, whole foods in simple combinations. You may want to taper off coffee completely after the first week and then do a week of the official Purifying Diet by Dr. Randolph Stone. Recipes are also included in the amazon link above. I recommend either CSES bookstore or Energia books.

Both these sites have Stone's Health Building book for follow up after the detox and are previous instructors of mine.

Vitality Drink

8oz orange juice (or apple if you have gallstones or sensitive teeth)
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 inch raw ginger root (peel and chop)
1-2 cloves fresh raw garlic (optional)
pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
1-2 Tbsp. olive oil

Blend, strain and drink. Follow immediately with two cups of Polaritea as hot as you can and as soon as you can. This has a cleansing affect on the whole digestive system, particularly the liver and gall bladder.

Polaritea

Mix together:

1 part fennel seed
1 part fenugreek seed
1 part licorice root
2 parts flax seed (whole)

Bring 2 1/4 cups water to a boil. Add 1 rounded Tbsp of seed mixture to water. Simmer on very low (to access licorice root) for 5 minutes then cover and let steep for several more minutes after adding 1/2 Tbspn (or a teabag) of dried peppermint leaves.

Enjoy!

Notes From Cindy's Desk

I am excited about studying myology at this time in order to (ack, argh #$%!) meet New York state board requirements for professional licensure as Massage Therapist. Nuff said.

Meanwhile, the geomancy of my new residence e.g. a recently installed trampoline complete with jumping children installed in our wealth corner, brought new and prosperous info my way and I will be working at a day spa (to be announced) in Connecticut until I finish the One Class (argh ack #$%!!) needed to make *holds nose* New York Professional Licensing Board in Albany, Happy. Nuff said?

Many folks (MT's that is) just give up as they have to start over once they get to New York. Most states require 500 hours of education whereas NY requires 1,000. Well, y'all knew I have 2,000 right? But some of those hours seem to be not good enough. *smiles*

Although, they only socked me with 150.

Like I was sincerely saying. I think I have about the most knowledgeable, integrated teacher of myology / kinesiology possible on the planet. So, needless to say, I am actually enjoying the brain fry necessary to recall and recite the "this-thing-is-connected-to-the-that-thing" stuff.

Really.

My next post will be a recipe for Vitality Drink (aka Liver Flush) which is to be followed immediately with Polaritea (recipe shall ensue also).

Oh! Additionally I've had the pleasure of being in a Shiatsu class where I have humbly been enlightened as to certain "issues" I need help with. It's awesome! Now I know I have a deficient spleen yang qi and deficient liver *yin* qi which is disguised as a liver excess yet it is the only exception to the rule of excess. Fascinating. I know.

Aye, at last! 'Tis only a deficiency.

Thus the idea for posting on liver flush which, hmmm, come to think of it, could be a bit too cooling for the ole spleen. Well, onward.

And now what we've all been waiting for: I've switched to black coffee. Seems dairy and sugar neutralize the heat.
